Here are some educational stories about Pi.

The Indiana Pi Bill (bill #246 of the 1897 sitting of the Indiana General Assembly) is one of the most famous attempts to establish scientific truth by legislative fiat. The main result claimed by the bill is a method to square the circle, rather than the establishment of the value of Pi. The bill appears to dictate various incorrect values of Pi, such as 3.2.

There's been some talk about Alabama Pi legislation, redefining Pi to equal precisely three (3.00), but some people cast doubts on the thruthfulness of this. The bill was allegedly passed on April 1, 1998.
